Default AVCR - Newage STI/Ecutek - pro's/con's

Hi,

Are there any benefits to running an AVCR on a newage STI with ecutek. already running a 3 port controller.

Does it give 'finer' control of the boost, or is it all a load of bllocks ?

I'm sure I've read posts with people running it ?

I also assume another remap will be needed at the same time ?

Does the AVCR work on a 6 speeder ?

Thanks.

I am not sure about the ecutek but I think it is fairly good at boost control, however I dont think you can play about with boost settings etc without pluggin in a laptop.
I have an avcr albeit on a classic with a power fc and it is good for setting up turbo response etc and changing actual boost settings, You can also limit boost in certain gears etc and have rpm specific boost settings, all controllable from the unit itself, so yes it does offer finer adjustable control.

If you are retaining the same target boost levels then I dont think a remap would be needed, however if you were going to higher boost levels then I would say you would. Sure a mapper will be along to answer that though. Will have a look later to see if it will work with 6sp sure it does

i have been reliably informed that the modern ecu is pretty good and can allow for ingear boost settings thru ecutek SO THE avcr isnt really as good a tool to the newer cars as it is to the older ones !!! but if your going above 1.5bar get it fitted also if your car is mapped already and you just want to add it for that extra ooomfff it can be fitred and tweak with out anything done to your map but the boost on your map will limit what you can run thru the avcr !!!!

In gear control will depend on the exact model of car/ECU

Ecutek isn't much good for controlling boost beyond 1.5 bar.

Right thats settled that then.

AVC-R it is then. Am already running 1.77 with Ecutek. If the AVC-R is better then thats good enough for me
