Default AIRCON RE-CHARGE

I have a 93 wrx with air con ,using the now illegal R12 coolant ,what have people done as now it is R134A coolant and the two are not compatable have you changed all the seals as i have been told R12 seals will perish with R134A ,the fittings are different as well ,also has any-one tried the change over kits with the oil lubricants see them on flea bay R12-R134A no new seals thou and have heard not to good reports . Any ideas and cost ?

You can have a treatment gas passed through the system that makes the seals expand then use R134a but it will gradually leak out through the rubber hoses etc.. Complete waste of time I'm told..

I just found someone with some R12 gas.. Had to ask very nicely.

hi mate. got same car with same gas, aircon not workin (not ice cold) and turned out i had a split hose hence lost the R12, aircon man filled it with R134a normal stuff added some oil and dye and jobs been a good one ever since, apparently all aircon loses its gas after time no matter what car... had to have the mrs car done at same time and thats a 03 plate focus... can honestly say had no probs since having the R134a in and works a treat
