Default Cold air feed to standard Airbox

On my classic, prior to running an induction kit, I removed the resonator and standard air box feed system, to pull cold air from inside the O/S wing.

I'll eventually run an induction kit on my 02 UK STI, but am aware that this requires a remap (due to swirl effect) and I'm not in a position to do that yet....

Therefore, is there any reason that I shouldn't do a similar mod to the new car, where the standard airbox (now fitted with a K+N panel) should feed from the inner wing ?

I'll do some temperature comparisons, but at the moment, it strikes me that the existing subaru intake is drawing from above the radiator (and is sealed from the front of the bonnet lip with a rubber seal) . I'm also fitting a slam panel extension.

Any views ?
