Air Flow meter keeps breaking??????
Has anybody had any difficulties with their mass air flow meter? I have gone though 4 in the last 8 months!!!!
I am told that this can often happen if you use an Oliy air-filter like a K&N but I still have the standard air box with a dry filter.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Is there a difference between a MAF and a Air Flow meter, anyway I am on about the sensor that sits between the air filter and engine. (black thing with a small visible silver wire)

You must have something wrong, I have only replaced 1 Maf and have done 83,000 miles.
Is it correctly fitted? They do not like lots of vibration, as happens with some induction kits, what symptoms do you get when it fails, CEL Light.
Check all wiring to MAF for cable damage.
When it fails is the old one clean, or is it contaminated with dust/Oil.
With standard air box and snorkel in the wing it should last a long time.

I'm running a standard type piper cross dry filter with the standard intake assembly, the MAF's that have been removed have been clean with no dust or deposit of any kind. I haven't really looked at the wires other than a glance so I will check to see if they are all ok.
When it fails I think the engine light has come on 3 out of the 4 times, most of the time it has gone into get me home mode (3500 rpm max with light throttle) although the 3rd time it failed it went really rich on the mixture lots of smoke, popping and banging etc.
The car has just done 90k miles, I bought it with 38k on it and had no problems until I fitted a VF28 turbo at around 70k, it was then when it was identified that what I assume was the original one had failed (mixture was to rich on tickover)

I am having the exact same problem with mine at the moment.
HAd the car six months and have been through two of them already.
Its a classic with the prodrive pack and has a cone style foam pipercross filter on, would anyone recommend a different filter as i heard this can contribute?
Its being replaced under warranty but its more the inconvenience thing that is bugging me
