Default Head gasket

hi a quick question , i suspect my head gasket has gone on my scoob booking her it into the doctors tommorow to verify , its a import wrx my 95 i,ve had it for 3 years now and its got 74.000 miles on the clock , if it is the head gasket ,can anyone give me abit of advice on what to do, should i ask them to fit a more substancial gasket ? do i ask them to look abit more into engine for poss more problems and money whilst its stripped and do the heads need re skimming once stripped , thanks ....any help appreciated ,,Dave .. or and does anyone know any good garages N/E uk that specialises and knows abit about imports ...cheers

If it is the head gaskets then the heads should be checked otherwise you may find they go again, also make sure you replace both gaskets at the same time, not just one side. Whilst the engine is out, it may be an idea to replace the bearings etc at the same time
