Default What does a knackered rear diff sound like.............????

There was a quite loud bang, when i pulled off of the lights earlier, keeps clonking when i accelerate anything other than slowly, and is worse if turning.

The noise is def coming from the back of the car, so cant think of anything else it could be, other than maybe a drive shaft

Any thoughts people

Sounds like when one of my driveshafts decided to give up. If its making more noise when turning one direction then check that side first.

Oh and they make a fair racket, sounds like the whole transmission system is about to fall off.

Check the rubber boots, mine was distorted at the joint that had gone.

Well the general opinion is that it is driveshaft/cv joint, this is so much better than rear diff, fingers crossed for this
