Default EGT sensor failed maybe?? urgent!

Has my EGT sensor failed?

My car wont rev over 3k and if i press the accelerator a tiny bit too much whilst in nutral it will cut the revs.

Im also getting a flashing CEL, ive checked the ECU and im getting

P1301
Fire due to increased exhaust temperature

P1544
High exhaust temperature detected

I was driving down the motorway at normal speed in the middle lane and the car just started to die and this happend.

Does this seem normal if the sensor has failed? Ive tried a reset on the ECU and after a few seconds it comes up with the same error.

Also, is this the sensor at the base of the uppipe that you can see when taking the drivers wheel off and looking behind the plastic?

Help much aprieciated!

Cheers,

Bri

The EGT sensor is more towards the top of the up-pipe
There's a Lambda sensor on the exhuast header right at the flange with up-pipe - this is behind the plastic flap by the wheel.

It could be sensor failure or the up-pipe cat breaking up and blocking the flow. In either case there may be a risk of debris going on into the turbo.

yeah but would this still cause my car to run in this way??

if i press the revs lightly in neutral the revs will bounce off 3k like they would normally do at 7k at the limiter.

Would this sensor failing cause my car to do this?

Im not worried about the turbo, as i have another 1 and also a spare uppipe....

but i really need to find out if its the sensor that would cause my car to do this or something else.
