Default Heating problem!

I will try to describe this problem in the best way(I think!!). I changed the radiator on my 97 uk turbo,as soon as I started the engine the fans are spinning constantly the engine check light stays on and after taking it round the block for a spin, I got back, popped the bonnet and saw a **** load of smoke coming from the turbo. The smoke did not smell of oil more like anti freeze! I'm pretty sure there isnt an air pocket in the cooling system ,as when I squeeze the pipe I can feel the water circulating, I could be wrong of course! Has anyone got any ideas?
