Are these different MAF's or can a UK Turbo MAF be used on a STI ?
I've been told you can get two types 4 or 5 pin.
4 pin = UK
5 pin = STI/Prodrive

Ok,
Just checked mine its a Four Pin type (on a MY99 UK Turbo)
The reason i asked is because a friend was having problems with his MY00 Prodive UK turbo which was hestating and misfiring. We obvoiusly presumed it was the MAF.
His old MAF was a 5 pin. We used another second hand MAF (which we was assured worked) which was a 5 pin to check if everything was ok but it didnt work on that either.
We then presumed it was something other than a MAF problem so he replaced a load of other things inc Lambda and cleaned the boost solenoid to no avail.
He then decided to bite the bullet, dig deep and bought a new MAF. This turned out to be the four pin type so we thought it was the wrong type but we installed it anyway just to check as the loom only has four wires so we couldn't understand why it had a five pin MAF.
Anyway it worked and everything returned to normal on the four pin MAF.
My questions now is - Where did the five pin MAF come from? do other MY99/00 cars use them?

Its the same maf, there was just an extra blind pin in some of them, it doesn't actually do anything though, check your connector out and you will/should find there are only four wires.
