sti 3 1.2 bar
my mate has a sti ver 3 with a 6s ecu 3 plug, and it will boost up to 1.2 bar does that sound right for that ecu or does it sound like its chiped,
is that the right ecu for the car?

I have an Sti v3.
Originally it boosted to 1.2/1.3 and then suffered acute fuel-cut due to the ecu getting flustered boosting so high.
This was cured using a Blitz boost controller, and the car ran in stock ecu form with it at 1.25 bar.
It ran superbly.
Note though:
If you get fuel-cut (probably exactly at 4500rpm) get an Apexi FC ecu fitted (about £750) and mapped. The car will run better still.
Fuel-cut will almost certainly occure if you fit a decat exhaust.
The V3 ecu's can be unstable like this.
Hope this helps.
ps : You MUST run Optimax at 1.2 bar, and your injectors will run max duty cycle, not good.

Mine had the same ECU and ran about 1.15-1.2 bar but with a centre race cat for convenience. I fortunatly never experienced the fuel cut issues that Graham did but his was boosting a bit more. Agree with all he says.

where should he go next for some more power, can you chip that ecu?,i here that people don't like to touch them
thanks matt

Matt,
This is one of the ECU's that can't be (generally - inserted to ward of comments to the contary) altered. Prior to that you could get a scoobyecu for them and after that they could be reflashed with ecutek software, as I understand it. It maybe possible to attach another chip to it, I'm sure I'll be corrected if wrong.
I pondered all this when I found that I had one of the best starting points (enginewise) for tuning, but an ecu that stood in the way!
Your best bet is to get an Apexi Power FC and have a good mapper map it for you.
