slight nock, sti block differences advice too
ok, ive a slight nock on my engine. only when cold anyways. but has any of you noticed a slight tap sound coming from some where. only when you slightly rev.
well becouse of this im getting an sti block. now i was told a while ago that the sti's have better piston compaired to uk/wrx engines. the block is from a sti v2 import, as my car is an uk 95 turbo.
this is what i need to find out. what do i need to look for. my engine is still running in the car, so i carnt compair them that way. so what do i need to look for, ive been told the block is an sti one but theres also a lot of scaming going round with scooby part these days. any advice would be great. thanks again guys

my engine ticks a little its mostly cam followers. Its got 80k so what the hell it makes a bit of a noise and soon im gonna have to buy a new one! A knock is a little more to worry about. A tap im not quite sure. Does it sound like a clock then thats a tick. Were gonna end up talking tick, tap, knock. Im gonna bed. If it is a tick then its not a big deal really, start saving cause your gonna need some new kit (if your **** about this stuff). At very least cam followers. At worst them a new oil pump and new cams.
If you have a ticking cam follower dont panic the last scoob i owned run with a tick for 3 years. then i sold it. As far as i know its still going. I see it from time to time and the guy that bought it didnt seem the engine work type. I still have the 96 wrx waggon as the family car.

it could be from the clocks. but the car has done 124,+ miles. im changing the block to an sti one as im having an apexi fc fitted. i can see the old engine go bang. so all im now after is. is there any differences that you can see with the sti pistons. whiting ect/marks.
