Porting the turbo involves working the exhaust housing inlet ideally matching the turbo and your up pipe and ensuring the exhaust housing inlet has any unevenness or deviations from factory castings removed as this will improve flow.Widening the of the exhaust housing inlet can also be done to a small degree built again the up pipe must be matched or any gains will decrease. The process is similar to that of porting oe headers...
Other turbo porting would include the compressor housing but this would usually be done to reduce surge and would be specifically supplied as a ported unit from the manufacturer

Hope this helps.
