Default intercooler slanty to straight?? help

hi guys,im new to the scooby scene but have been a mechanic for 5 years now so got a bit of knowledge.
bought a scooby off a bloke on ere who bought it off a bloke on ere last year,(still with me?) apparently the bloke i got it from replaced the i/c cos the old one was fooked, now its not running 0.9bar its running0.7?? its a 95 uk 2000 with full decat and 3 inch downpipe,h&s back box.
the i/c has got sti in red on it and has a number 3 on side, ive been told on scoobcity that i can fit a straight intercooler which will be better, can anyone advise me on this or has anyone done this.
cheers guys

I was under the impression that the slanty intercooler was fitted to the STI cause it was better than the straight kind. Im usually wrong though...LOL

I suppose a larger intercooler is always gonna help no matter which way it slants. I hear though that since the air still comes through the scoop and hits the same part of the intercooler going up too big can be a waste. A lot of people move the intercooler to the front of the car under the radiator. I was considering this once but the kits run into thousands of pounds and my budget just didnt stretch that far.

Slanty intercooler is crap is the smallest of all , later spec 98 can be fit easily and are larger ,or spec 99-00 is larger again but requires blanking plate for dump valve or later models again are bigger but more awkward to fit , hybrid front mount complete kits can be bought for about £300-£400 try Harvey or On-lineflat4 they both sell them , there was a group buy on i have a 99-00 spec fitted to a my93 bought with all bits to fit for £150 was a few years ago probably cheaper now just remember some of the hoses are expensive .

Search the projects section, there's likely to be info on there about doing it
