Default Subaru Parts Warranty issues in UK?

Howdy,

I'm from South Africa and just want to compare the practise of our dealerships to yours.

Scenario: I bought a new MAF sensor for my STi 6 yesterday, I installed it in their car park. Reset ECU and drove 1km, same error 23 - MAF failure, so they sold me a faulty sensor. Apparantly not an uncommon occurance with these parts according to my tuner, who has bought lots of them.

I took it back to them and they refused to replace it, reason being, no warranty on electrical parts and my car is modified.

This part was clearly faulty from the factory. I don't know the cost there but its roughly 80 pounds. I can buy another one, but purely out of principal I think they should replace it because I'm such a loyal supporter.

When you change MAF the first time you turn on the key use the A/C at full on and let the car at idle for few minutes before you use it as before.

I know my dealers wont give returns on special order parts (since mine is a jap import) My parts have all been good though so i havent had to fight with them over any.

Hmmm ok, I reset the ECU completely though. Drove a bit and same error. I repeated this process at least 5 times.

Mine is also a Jap import although Sabuaru South Africa imported 12 of these themselves in 2000. Mine is one of them.
