Default help it keeps cutting out

hi
my 94 wrx ra keeps cutting out when i slow down to stop at junctions
some times it doesnt cut out but idles really low (600-700rpm)
and if it stays idling for long it starts to rise and fall and will then cut out

it also blinks on the check engine light when driving but it goes off again
i have checked the fault code and it was the sensor up on the right next
to the throttle body (think it is called the idle control valve ?? )
but i have changed this but still no change

im fairly sure this is an air leak some where but i have been unable to find it

also it is is decat and running a scoobyboard and sti4 tmic and hks dv and hks induction kit and apexi boost controller
and has been running this this set up for well over a yaer with no problems

anybody have any idea what it might be???

thanks
chris

Does it do it all the time, or only when warm/cold etc?

seems ok at cold
but the cold start idle seems a little high 1500rpm
but that settles down ok

it doesnt always cut out at juctions
and when it does it drops the idle down to about 600rpm
and to stop it cutting out i just blip the throttle a little

Check for air leaks, if none are found try replacing the ECU Temperature sensor, they are only a few quid.

You say you have changed the idle solenoid make sure it is set correct idle and matched with the throttle hold (small screw back of throttle arm) ie when car is warm make sure idle is held by solenoid not the rev screw, have you reset the ecu? also the idle valve is measured from water/air, make sure coolant system is clean and has no air locks/leaks as well as air leaks. Is the replacment valve new if not maybe also faulty as this is not uncommon as thay are not cheap! Crap in the coolent/air systems is why idle valves fail can most times be cleaned !!

hi
i just wanted to post up a thanks for
the advice
checked the coolent and it was clogged up with gunk

bad news was the gunk turned out to be engine oil
so i guess thats the head gaskets gone

anyone got any advice on changing them ?
and a good place to get uprated gaskets ?
(it must be able to do postal service as i live in ireland)
or should i go with replacing my94wrx gaskets with sti4/5
