is it worth using octane boost on a modded uk?

It would be a good (and expensive) insurance policy.
Costs do mount up though.
If you are going that way, suggest you add boost of your choice before the mapping to coat the combustion chambers; say a couple of tank fulls through the car.

The usual advice is to map on whatever fuel you are going to run on.
Whilst mapping they will be checking for knock and mapping accordingly. What you dont want to do IMO is map on an octane booster mix then drive without it as the ignition will be setup for the octane mix and will just retard back when you're not running that mix. I'd ask whoever is gonna map it for a definitive answer to be honest.

If it were me, I'd get it mapped on 97. You can run it on this then with a clear conscience and know that if you've got a tank full off Optimax you have that additional det protection. I only add OB for trackdays and particularly enthusiastic runs.
