Default Turbo's ????

Hello,

I used to own a sapphire cosworth with a garret T3 turbo.

Which of the TD05 variation turbo's i.e 16g,18g,20g is most similar in size to the T3 or are they not even similar?

i have a UK turbo with a TD04 turbo but want to upgrade to a TD05 with similar spool and lag characteristics as my cossie with the T3.

I appreciate that the cars are different and that various other supporting mods can totally change the characteristics of turbo spool and lag.

I just want a vague idea of which one is a closest match to the T3.

for size and spool=

T2= TD04
T3= TD05 (16G)
T4= TD06 (20G)

the TDO5/06(20g) is like a t3 with a t4 size compressor housing bolted on

the big difference between the TD0x and the garret Tx is the TD'S are a lot more reliable and don't blow up like the garret

Question Always wanted to know

Out of curiosity I have a MD309 bought of Lateral Performance a couple of years ago, I think this is rated to 450bhp,
My car is running 1.4 bar with this.
What is the max bhp range of a TD06 20g? with the right sort of mods ?

450 from the MD309 is a bit optimistic, if i remember rightly the MD309 is a VF hybrid using a P20 housing, spool is a little later on these turbos (around 1bar at 3400rpm) but they are a good unit.
as for max power you would get around the same out of a TD05/06(20g) as you would with the MD309
I have never been a big fan of VF hybrids due to there reliability but the MD309 seems to hold up well.
