yes the ecu should advance the timing until it detects knock and then back off so with booster it should be able to run more timing.. something like 5bhp per degree depending on rpm.. worth a try to see if you can notice it for the price of a bottle of booster. Although I believe there is al imit to how far it will advance the timing.. but worth case is it won't reduce the power..

I have occasionally used Millers Octane Plus in my 03 STi PPP (before a re-map) and although I never really noticed any real performance improvement, the engine is smoother and whereas before I would see one or two greens on the Knocklink, that became much less, indicating smoother combustion?

Even with the newage ecu being very quick to react (iirc real time) you still need to use OB every tankful to see any real benefit. they still advance timing quite slowly. I once had to put NUL+OB (only 20 ltrs) in my remapped 05 WRX and it took at least 2 tankfuls of Optimax+OB for the KL to calm down. (just had to take it easy for a few weeks)
I've only ever used Millers which I like as it's easy, one bottle per tank (well 50 ltrs). Keep an eye out for any GB's, last one was £25 per box/10 delivered iirc. Let me know if you see one as I'm getting a bit low..!
