Unhappy Stalled.....................then okay

I was driving home from work today travelling along at 30/40 mph, when my car stuttered and even though I kept my foot on the gas pedal the revs slowly went down to zero then the battery/oil lights came on the dash to show me my car had completely stalled.
So I coasted over to the side of the road. I turned the car over and it started first time and idled okay for a couple of minutes............so I thought I would try again.
And yes the same thing happened 200 metres down the road it stuttered then even though I kept my foot on the gas, about half way down,
the revs died to zero again.
I had plenty of fuel, and I checked under the bonnet, no fuel leaks, nothing obvious.:suspiciou

So I tried one more time as I only had to get down the M23 for fifteen minutes and I would be home.....................I really didn't want to call out the RAC.
I started the car up and drove onto the motorway watching my knocklink very closely................at no stage have I had any knocklink activity.
I stayed at 70mph down the motorway, no problems, then I came off and pulled onto the slip road to slow down and thought..............here we go..............but surprisingly not once did it stutter or stall

Before anyone asks I can't get a error code as I have a gems ECU, so my only option is to get someone to look at it on the old laptop, but that takes time and money which I am a bit short of at the minute.

Do these symtoms sound familiar to anyone, anything I can check on my own for now?

Cheers Kevin

Sounds like the fuel pump is cutting out.
Get the car running and remove the rear seat base and have a wiggle of the fuel pump connector and see if that shows up anything.

I've got a walboro 255 fuel pump, thats only about three/four years old,
would that be playing up after such a short time

Anythings possible, but it sounds like just a connector problem at the moment.

Agree with Alan... also check the battery connections and the ground connections to the block etc..
Also all electrical connections like throttle position sensor for example.

How did you connect the walbro pump to the original wiring? perhaps the connector has corroded.

Hello mate
It was about three years ago I fitted that, I can't even remember what it looks like let alone what I did with the connections
But you mention the battery/earth etc etc.....................I recently fitted a Spec R battery cover and took it all apart maybe I didn't screw the earth connector tight enough and that has come too loose, I will check it this afternoon,

Kev.

Unhappy Got really bad today

Well I tightened everything around the battery, heard the fuel pump priming, so went for a drive.....................30 miles later car had been fine.

Stopped for an hour..................got back in car started spluttering again...................and about 100 metres later car stalled again,
This time when I started my car up I got a big plume of white smoke out my exhaust.
I managed to get to work today.
This is whats baffling me though, came home from work tonight and not once did it stall or splutter, I obviously did not use any boost, so it seems to be an intermittent thing at the minute.

I am led to believe that white smoke means its the turbo, so what could be the problem with it, and why would it stall my car now and then?
The MD309 is only 2 1/2 years old so I'm not best pleased
Anyone know roughly how much this might cost? I'm thinking of sending it to Turbo Dynamics or Lateral Performance.
