MY02 Sti ppp owned for 4 weeks clutch started slipping in 5th and 6th. Now the dealer is having a look on Friday next week but reckons it might not be warranty could be wear and tear. Now I could understand this after I had had it a while but 4 weeks? Where do you think I stand?
to be honest it is a wear and tear item just like brake pads. The only chance of it being covered by warranty is if it is found to have a manufacturing defect. Thing is it could be the original clutch that is now 3+yrs old, so the chances are your going to have to pay.

what even though it must have been worn when they sold it to me? Seems a btad harsh. Surely they have a duty to provide you with goods that are to a reasonable standard? Otherwise they have sold me a car with a f*cked clutch?

so how did they know it had a f*cked clutch then, if it did not when you bought it - as dealers dont have an extra sensory perception toolbox
Luck of the draw im afraid, some you win some you loose. try it on as some cars have had clutches under warranty but it is a wear item so a bit pointless getting irate about it IMO

I appreciate what you are saying but I would have said a bit of goodwill on their behalf as its gone within a short term? If they wont sort under warranty I guess its down to scoobyclinic or API? any suggestions on price at both ends of the top of your heads
you don't mention the mileage.
If its done around 30K then I guess they can say 'its a not unreasonable expectation that the clutch is worn'
If it had done < 10K, you could argue that its either a defect (Warrenty) or been ragged (maybe misrepresented the cars condition).
In the end, the original clutch is a bit naff, so bite the bullet and get a decent one.
