what are the causes of detonation

basically...

poor fuel
high boost
lots of ignition advance

or a combo of all three...

Its more complicated than that, but I'm off to bed so someone else can pick up on that

to make it more complicated i have only seen the knocklink light up twice different circumstances both times, ie different revs,different gears, different weather conditions
