Default Tickety Tappets, any one used additive?

My tappets on MY93 WRX are tapping a little bit and i saw a product that you add to your oil which is meant to clean them out, and was just woundering if any one has used such products and what the outcome was.

I wouldnt want to leave that stuff in the oil for long but i was going to do an oil change soon and woundered if i put some of this in for the next 250-350miles if it would be ok?

Cheers,
GAZ

Thumbs down

NO DON'T DO IT

I'm sure APIdave will be along soon to explain.

But advice is drain 500ml of oil and replace with AT Fluid. Fit a new, pre-oiled filter, and then drive for 100 miles or so. No boost, no hi revs.

Then change the oil+filter.

Use a quailty oil, and change it 3000 miles, or 3 months for a year or so.

I tried some wynns hydraulic follower additive on my Legacy many moons ago. And it seemed to work, but perhaps not as well as regular oil changes of a decent oil, not too thick.
