Default 1993 gc8 wrx standard boost ?

just fitted a boost gauge in mine as i suspected it wasn't running right. between 2.5 and 5k the car boosts too just below 0.5 bar and slowly builds to 0.69 bar where it hits a quite violent boost cut at 6-6.2 k. The car only has a greddy bov and de cat. i have a rx7 tt and that runs 1 bar and my old escort turbo ran similar boost by this i take it my impreza boost level is too low and assume i have a poorly scoob. can anyone shed some light ?

depending on the ecu used I think you should be running about .9 bar (U8 ecu) would check for leaks in boost pipework and would maybe also clean out the boost solenoid.

where is the boost solenoid located ? also the on all my other turbo cars the bov releases air in a smooth whoosh. my scoob chatters the air out for some reason. just like wastegate chatter but from the bov ?

Solenoid is the cylinder ( gold ) with the pipes running to it

right thanks for the help. i can see the problem now. the previous owner has hooked up those pipes wrong. you saved me a fortune on the rollers, hopefully
think there is a few more pipes misplaced too like the one that goes to black plastic box after the panel filter box ? dont know if thats important. but there are screw blocking vac pipes all over the bay

does anyone have diagrams of the vacuum system for the solenoid ?

where abouts are you located mate ??

The bottom hose on the solenoid goes to the black resonator box which you mentioned is plugged with a screw, hose on side goes to the area marked with the yellow circle and the top goes to the turbo area marked with a orange circle

Sorry I don't know the technical words for them lol

right i think i done it right last night but not sure. i got the very bottom hose off the solenoid going to the black resinator box you mentioned. ive got the top hose going to the actuator and the bottom hose going to the pipe off near the turbo youve shown. thanks for the help. still got problems though.

car boosted up to 0.8 bar without the hesitation. was spot on for about five minutes the best its ever ran. got on an A road and accelerated. Pulled hard in 1st,2nd and till about 4k in 3rd then the boost cut came in and the car belted a few bangs out. did this a twice more then the ecu went into limp mode again @ 0.5 bar.

if the ecu senses too much knock could this cause limp mode ? im sure the optimax round middlesbrough is poor and my car hasnt been mapped for uk fuel yet.
