it could potentially bugger it up.
The SAFC is a fuel controller which allows you to make adjustments to fuel by either richening the mixture or leaning it out. To set this up correctly you would need to monitor afrs and imo it would be worthless to install unless you are running uprated boost. Even then I still wouldn't use one.

Does come with a nice Knock meter built in that wires into the std knock sensor. I used to have one with only this feature wired in and it was a lot better than the Knocklink it replaced and it matched the AVCR beside it
Dependind on how cheap, very very handy money, is that you could use it to monitor DET

for that price it is very cheap, and is a worthwhile investment for the knock feature alone. However, like I said I would be wary about adjusting the fuel settings though without proper monitoring equipment

I have use the S-AFC in my 98 GC8 for 3 years with great results.
2 diffent set ups one for daily use (low consumption) and one more aggresive.
Very nice knock meter and with the ''blue wire'' mode you can see the O2 readings.
