Default Head torque for ARP stud kit

Hi peeps! i am ready to fit my cylinder heads using an arp stud kit. The instructiond state that they require a lower torque value of 72 ft-lb,yet the manual gives a value of 22ft-lb,then an angle tightning proceedure. Just wondered where the 72ft-lb comes into play.
Thanks guys!

Tim

I think the studs are not the stretch type. Scoobys use stretch bolts hence the torque and angle tightening.

To be really sure get hold of Paul at Zen or David at API engines (who did mine perfectly)

Just to let you know torque the ARP studs(11mm) to 45ft/lb in sequence, then 72ft/lb.No need to do the steps outlined in the service manual,as there not strech bolts.

Cheers,Tim

Was recomended to tighten in stages of 20ft/lb increments (in correct sequence) anf finish off at 75-80lb/ft.
Left for a day and rechecked to be sure.
