just looking for some thoughts/opinions. i have a MY99 classic, full decat and green panel filter, forge VTA dump. am thinking of getting GT spec gen ii headers around £400 for more power gains of course (have read they are a mod only worth doing on already highly modded cars??) . would i be better off spending cash on something else instead? will eventually get a TEK 3 re-map but not quite yet.

would an ECU upgrade be worth while considering instead, if so what would the benefits be? curently have the infamous E802 ecu.

i don't post on here much so would greatfully appreciate the expertise and experience found on here.

you might be better of getting a set of Harvey's ported headers, you will find your turbo spools up earlier and you wont be far off the power output of stainless headers, unless you want megga power it will prob make for a better road car with ported OE headers

 

have tried looking these up but as yet cannot find anywhere that sells them, could you point me a the right direction please.

 

unless your running big power you wont notice that much difference, had a set from powerstation on my old classic and was very dissapointed after they were fitted because i lost all the flat four burble and i didnt gain much power! personally i would go down the ecu route.

You could try having your ecu remaped first and set up on a rolling road youll probably find that this will get the most out of mods youve allready done. have heard that with a full decat cars can run a bit rich so a set up on a rolling road should sort this out and your car will run much better.

he can either mod yours while you wait or do a swap with yours for a modded set (if he has any left) with you sending yours to him first, these headers are extremely well regarded and combined with some other suitable mods you will see quite pleasing gains
Best bet is to touch base with him and see what he suggests is the best way forward, he is an extremely helpfull guy and knows his stuff.

 

made 320bhp on Harvey's ported headers, bloody excellent mod.
best bet it to buy a set of std. headers from here for say £30,
grind the heatshields and lugs off, send them to Harvey and then sell your own ones off the car when you fit them.
Least amount of hassle that way and the cars not off the road while you wait.
Its a no-lose mod IMHO
