Default Standard Petrol Tank Capacity

I was just wondering what a standard Impreza petrol tank capacity was, as I've seen threads of people filling their tanks up with 50 litres of fuel. Mine only holds around 35 from empty, I have a MY94 RA, are the tanks smaller on these models? Cheers.

I am pretty sure that your tank will be 50 litres. I have found the same as you and think it is down to a high reading gauge. I fill mine when it is getting low but only get in half of what I expect. Mine is a 93 WRX.
Cheers. Mark.

So am I speaking for everyone else here with a classic shaped scoob that there tanks only hold around £35 quid from the gauge reading on empty?

My ver2 STi RA (1996) has a 60 litre tank. I would have thought yours will have the same. When the gauge is on the last dot you still have plenty of fuel left. I let mine go down so the gauge points to the top or middle bar of the 'E'. And then you can still only get 51 or 52 litres in. I'm not brave enough to let it go down any more.

Some of the very early cars may have had 50 litre tanks but from 95 or before the fuel tanks are 60 litres. Usually the tank reads empty and you still have 8-10 litres plus.
If you are replacing the fuel pump you can adjust the fuel sender and pick up.
Why not get a five litre petrol can and run the car until it is empty and you will then know how much you have/can go once the guage reads empty.
On a 00 M/Y I can do 40 mls from fuel light on before filling with 57 litres and on a 95 M/Y I aim for 300mls approx or empty plus 50mls before filling with 53-55 litres.
