Default 2.5 conversion

Hey there........I've decided to go for it and am getting the 2.5 bottom end with sti pistons and all the trimmings......

Now i've got a VF34 turbo and I doubt i'll be able to keep this so what turbo should I be looking at?
I'm not going for the complete 2.5 conversion but am still looking at running lower boost, more power....any suggestions?

You could run the vf34 on a 2.5. It would give you 350bhp and very little if any lag. Im having a 20g on my conversion

I think the 20g would be superb. You don't HAVE to run it at 1.4 bar...
Remember a mappable ecu will be needed.
Wish i could have a big engine...but my 2 liter is about 380 now.

i had a vf34 hybrid on my 2.5 but found it run out of puff at around 5500rpm.im not sure if it was the turbo or the 2.5" system.i changed over to a md321 20g with a APS 3" full decat and now have abit more low down lag,but on the plus side it pulls like a train from 3000rpm to the red line.

i forgot to mention im on the standard ecu with a remap (ecutec)

Ive got the EJ257 block in place running an autronics ecu and am in the process of having forged pistons and rods fitted to run over 400bhp safely......the turbo im going for is the MD321 series turbo (its the one rated to 430bhp).This is all in my V4 type-r.....

Cool

If I decide to go with the 2.5 conversion, I'm planning on running the engine in with my vf34 then when it goes for mapping, changing to a TDO5 20g...
But the vf34 on my 2 litre pulls like a train to 9K...
Still looking round for the best prices on a 2.5 block with uprated rods, pistons and oil pump...

Wink

lol, got Gems ecu with anti-lag aswell... I've personally never took it that far, but it will do it... I found the VF34 works really well on my 2 litre... But would like more eva way... if I decide to go with the 2.5, or stick with the 2 litre...

Not much more than with the stock pistons (450/450) but it will at least last a bit longer...the stock pistons crack their ringlands when they feel like it

It might be possible to enter the 500's, but for how long is unknown, and then the problems with the thin bore liners and head gaskets blowing begin

Just out of curiousity how much would the 2.5 conversion cost? i assume it would be a rebuilt block or do you just put the forester engine in?

Cheers

The way i'm looking at things is to just do the 2.5 bottom end with my VF34 for starters......after the fmic........and then around xmas time i'll go for the bigger turbo..........but i'm only aiming for 400whp otherwise i've got to start going crazy

In long, mistaking 180's.....butlets not go there.......

anyway I say only because I know it's do-able for the 500 mark with a complete re-build and I can't make up my mind. If I go for just the bottom end, am I gonna start worring about the top end cracking......etc etc
