Default bloody dump valves , urgent help needed!!

ok ... so am now pulling my hair out

i own wrx 95 import ..

i was given a bailey dump valve so fitted it with the correct fitting kit , but the car wouldnt idil properly ...

so phoned g.goodes and they said that the bov might be faulty.

so now i have purchased another after market one and the same problem accures , not as bad but if i drop revs fast the car cuts out , it does tick over at just under 1000 but only after a second or two of jumping from 0 - 1500

is there anything else i need to do ?
does anyone else have this problem ?

the biggest problem is when am driving and it cuts out cos i lose steering and brakes

Put the standard one back on and see if you can return the others.

i have o2 wrx, bought a bailey atmo dump valve, car developed missfire immediately from fitting, also depending on throttle settings the boost was dumping continusaly whilst motorway driving, so took that one back paid the extra for forge atmo valve, still got missfire but not dumping correctly, refitted standard one missfire goes, plus we all know atmo dv's are bad for MAF readings, so stick with standard one thats my best advice experience with them

Did it have a blanking plug for the air intake system? If it didnt and you have a hole there, this could cause problems.

Is it a single piston or twin as i had the same problem on a volvo s40 T4 with a single piston baileys then fitted a twin piston and fault went away.Due to the fact that the single piston DV was open on tickover.

your going to have to adjust the spring on your bov in relation to your idleing...should have a small nut near the vacuum hose

I tried fitting a BOV also, and also got the mis-fire, the lumpy idle, and did not feel that the car was any more responsive than before. For hassle they give in relation to what you actually acheive, I'd listen to the guys above that say fit the original one. You will see that more than likely the problem will dissapear. Thats exactly what I did. Total waste of time and cash buddy. Unless you feel the need to let everyone now that you paid at least £100, plus time, only to have a ppsssshh, then don't bother..

If you do decide to stick with it. The problem is probably that the DV piston is not sealing during tick-over, the ECU will then compensate by adding more fuel/air to sustain idle, hence the fluctuation. I have been told that the Bailey DV26, twin piston DV will sort it, like I said, thats only what i've been told, I have not tested the therory.

Think about your purchase, a lot of dough of a mere ppsssshh!!!

Dan.

check the vacuum pipe is sealed properly. slight vacuum leak will prevent it from closing properly

GFB Stealth from scoobyclinic, on my JDM Sti8, cannot go wrong with this, had no problems so far, and fully adjustable to make it fully recirculate, or fully atmospheric. What more can you ask for!

I've a HKS SSQV fitted with no problems at all.

You have to fit a twin chamber BOV to the Impreza to overcome the idle problem.

The HKS SSQV has one chamber to control the idle and the other chamber is used to dump boost.
