Default Flywheel Change How much work

Hi, Clutch has started to slip on hard use. Have bought a new exedy heavy duty clutch and ultralight flywheel.

How much work is it to change the flywheel and clutch assembly.

Does the gearbox need to come out?
Will i need a clutch alignment tool?
Any other specialist tools required?
Is it possible with one man, and Ramps / Axle stands etc.
How long is it likely to take?

Anything to be wary off?

How long is it likely to take? If it goes well, 1/2 day, badly, multiple days

Anything to be wary off?
Complete pain in the **** to do, knowledge gained from reading about other folk who have struggled.

If you can afford it take it to someone who has done several gearbox, clutch changes

Easier to take the engine out and do it that way if you dont have hydraulic ramps and a transmission Jack. This is how I change my clutches these days.

There was an article on it in last months jap performance mag. They were fitting a new flywheel/clutch and pullys into theyre project car courtesy of RCM. didnt look like a difficult job but then again, they did have ramps for it. And they advised that you need 2 people to take the box off. Think you would be pushed for room under the car with a trolly jack and axle stands!

Too right! I've been doing it that way for 30 years. Hire or buy an engine crane.

Not a difficult job if you have done it before. Even with a hydraulic ramp, some of it is a 2 man job. Takes about three hours including tea break, (gearbox out) and the cost of supplying and fitting an O/E flywheel, lightened to 8kg is £220 locally. Obviously there would be a little bit more to fit your clutch.
