Question How to remove airlock?

Top radiator hose split on my 93 WRX this morning, have fitted a replacement and refilled with coolant and water, giving the new pipe a good squeeze from time to time and made sure heater control was on hot before I started.

Started it up with the cap off and let it run for a while, temp needle is just below half way but not getting any hot air in the car and the bottom radiator hose is cold???

Any ideas?

hello m8, i think you'll find that thats where the thermostat lies. Bottom hose heading into the block. If thats cold, i think the thermostat aint opening.

Are you filling up from the top hose?

I would check your thermostat to make sure that is operating correctly. Its recently happened to me (and the radiator end caps) and my thermostat wasnt opening fully. Could be because the thermostat isnt opening there is a big presure build up which caused the hose to split.

If you take the thermostat housing of, be careful of your knuckles and skin

also when filling, give the bottom hose a squeeze every now and again as well.

Thanks for the help, all sorted now

Couldn't really say what is was to be honest, although I think turning the car round to face up hill rather than down (unfortunately my drive isn't level ) seemed to help as did squeezing the bottom hose.

All in all it was a right pain in the **** though
