Radiator gone pop!
Had my sti4 (my 98) for 2 years, no problems what so ever, until now.
Always read up on common failures on the scoob, hoping never to have one!
Driving home from my brothers house last night at around 8pm, got 3 miles from his house and noticed the needle on the temperature gauge was slowly rising.
Suspecting something serious, I pulled into a local B&Q car-park, turned off the engine and popped the bonnet.
Immediatley, I noticed a hissing sound coming from the driver's side head-light area.
Feeling a bit less worried, I drove to my parants house which was closer and has a fully equipped double garage with a pit (my old man is an engineer).
Drained the coolant, removed the radiator only to find a small hair line crack in the plastic end tank, just below the top hose.
My first common fault!
Needless to say, I ordered a new unit from a local specialist for £108, should arrive tommorrow.
Scoobynet General does seem to be over-run by idiots slagging off idiots at the moment. Nice to have a section (General Tech) that is actually useful and informative.
I knew what the problem was as soon as I opened the bonnet, all from browsing this section from time to time.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this section, without it, Impreza ownership would be very, very daunting!
Thanks again everyone... keep on posting!

Exact same prob on my MY99 UK Turbo. New radiator arrived today will be fitting it in a min.
Just gotta replace my MAF & Lambda then seal my back lights coz their letting water in oh and tighten my 5th gear nut.
Common faults dont you just love them, especially when you get them all in one month like me.
Just gotta wait for the Up-Pipe to start leaking now.
Then i think i'm covered.
