Default airbox question

brought a standard airbox off of ebay which said it would fit a my 97/98 r reg turbo, to replace a cone filter, but the hole the maf sensor bolts on to is facing the wrong way, instead of faceing u as you look at the engine it faces the windscreen? is this for an earlier car, tried my mates my99 airbox, the hole faces the right way but is to big for the maf to bolt to, is there another type of airbox? which one do i need, and has anyone got one for sale, reasonably cheap.

AFAIK the MAF in a 97/98 car is fixed to the tube it sits in. Probaly one reason why they cost so much.

For an airbox try HDC Subaru or Grade A, both Subaru breakers and should have what you're after.
