Default Re map cost??

Does anyone know the cost of a further remap? I've re-mapped it for the exhaust and i've now got a cold air induction kit to fit and was wondering if

A) It needs re-mapping?
B) How much on average it will cost?

Thanks

If you have had it done already then the ECU has a license in it already. The re-mapping will probably cost around £250-400 depending who you use

more like about 150 for a remap if you stay with the same mapper. 250-400 if you change mapper.

Yes, more air into the engine will require additional setting up, a: to stop the engine going lean and b: to make the most of your new cold air intake. If it doesnt need remapping then the cold air kit you have fitted isnt flowing any more air and was pointless. If you use the APS CAI kits they need a remap for sure because they work very well.

It's not the flowing of more air that requires a remap, your ecu will easily cope with the increased/decreased airflow of the amounts afforded by an induction change.
It's the change in voltage signal from the mass air flowmeter at the same air flow rate that causes an issue.
This is due to the different airstream current across the sensor caused by the induction kit and this is what can cause lean running.
Many induction kits are worse than the std induction. The std induction is a very effective cold air intake as it is.
Mapping for an APS kit is only really a big issue on the pre 00 cars, on the new age they make a std bore maf housing which is very close to the OE part with regards to air signal.

Andy - I'm led to beleive the oringonal intake on the earlier
models is a little restrictive due to the bends in it.

How is the above best overcome to improve the flow?

You should only really be charged for the time to remap the car, if it's a decent place that did it. I had mine done by Powerstation in Tewkesbury and any subsequest maps will only cost me the hourly rate of the mapper (Rich) and to allow for an hour (depending on the mods that have been done), this includes the time on the rolling road.

Some of the independant guys that map (Andy F and Bob Rawle) may charge more than this (perhaps they'll confirm when they're on here) but they are reputedly the best in the business so I guess they can justify any additional charge, if they do in fact charge more.
