mine has already survived plenty of abuse at 400 or so (similar torque), so yeah, it can be strong but theres no telling for how long, hopefully ill find out soon
the casings from 2000 onwards are considered to be stronger than thei rolder countaparts.

I thought it was a false rumour that some 22Bs had the VF22. I went in AlanG's car with VF22 and it was pretty much like a TD05 with a bit later boost onset, but they tend to explode their compressor wheels. VF23 is not bad, not quite up there with a TD05 though I'd say. Neither are a lot of the hybrids if keeping the IHI turbine wheel IMHO. Not sampled anything on a 22B though.

i may very well be wrong then.....this has had a new compressor wheel put in though (larger) so hpefully wont explode. does MD195 ring any bells?

Is it worth changing to a 2.5 if you are only after 370 ?
No need for a new ECU on your car until you are way past that point, 03Denso ecu is an excellent unit.

yes because its the cheapest option available to me really. I want the car to be relatively unstressed as id like to use it a fair bit more on the track. Less drag stuff......(and even less nitrous
) I thought that the 03s ecu wouldnt take much above 400 reasonably? simply due to limitations in the maf? or am i wrong on that?

The maf can either be run in a bigger tube or in a 'blow thro' configuration, optionally you can also run map on the std ecu.
Guys in the states are running 500+ on std ECU's

thats is true, i think what im getting at is that if the car was say....370 then its going to be as quick as my old engine was with the nos on......meaning that its more than enough for me at the moment. If i get my way then the engine will be built with stronger pistons and rods to that i have the flexibility of more power later on, without it all coming in one hit. I know that i "could" theoretically have 450 now.....but i dont want to (yet) id rather do it in stages, hence why i passed up a GT30 hybrid in favour of the MD195 (for very reasonable money so not much "wasted" on it, just yet
)
I think the combination of all the pieces should make for a very nice car at this stage.

I see now
I knew you were looking at GT30R / SBRxx etc and hence couldn't understand why you went for the MD195.
What happened to the old 2.0 ? Did the nos on the top speed run kill it

a rod snapped!Yeah i decided not to go the GT30 route just yet as i couldnt justify the extra expense of the other things that would go wrong.....

MD195 is a VF22 Hybrid with a larger garrett sourced compressor wheel fitted in a modified compressor housing.
It would have been made by Turbo Dynamics to Lateral Performance's specs and then sold by Mark. It could also have been fitted with an uprated adjustable pressure regulator.
Nice turbo for a responsive 2.5, quite similar to a TD05/18G in terms of size
