Default Boost spike hitting fuel cut?

Hi Guys.
I have noticed recently that if I boot it in 4th and 5th I get smooth power and boost holding at about 0.8 bar. If however I need to do some overtaking and drop a gear or two and then boot it it feels as though I am hitting the fuel cut. This can be disconcerting when a safe overtake becomes a panick as the power you expect has disappeared!!!
Could this be boost spike? If so what can I do about it as it is spoiling a great car?
Thank you and and wishing you all a Merry Christmas.
Cheers. Mark.

By the way it is a my93 JDM WRX.

Anyone have any ideas? By the way I didn't mean to shout in my original thread. My eyesight is not what it used to be!.
Cheers. Mark.

more likely spark plugs or coil packs.

Fuel cut won't happen until 0.9psi+ (14.xxpsi) and is more likely in high gears. If it is high rpm and high boost then spark issues are more likely.

Overboost in 4th and 5th has always happened with me at 16+psi. Which is just over 1 bar I suppose if you want to get metric. It can happen at lower revs if your boost solenoid and plumbing is gunged up with oil.

Do a search for overboost and find one of the many threads on it. See if it matches what you've experienced.
