Question Rotated turbo on 2ltr

I have a 94wrx with rebuilt, forged bottom end and a jap spec 6 speed. I am considering changing the turbo sometime after christmas and am looking at my options.
Would I be better off raising then inlet manifold, fitting an 18g or 20g and get between 370/400 bhp or fit a small rotated garret and aim for a good 400bhp+?
What would be the benefit of each set up? Would a rotated turbo boost too late in the rev range?
Would there be anything else worth doing at the same time?
Anybody have any pics of rotated turbos fitted using a normal entry inlet manifold?
Car has front mount, 740cc, GEMS, HKS headers.

Many thanks

Nathan

Check out Roger Clark Motorsport's Garrett IHI Hybrid GT35

Bolt on and no need to rotate. have seen nearly 500 bhp from one of these.

The offer four different types:

P20 exhaust Housing with Ported shroud
P20 exhaust Housing without Ported shroud
P18 exhaust Housing with Ported shroud
P18 exhaust Housing without Ported shroud

I would highly recommend one of these unit

Hope that helps

Who much would one of these retail for and what supporting mods would be needed to make the most of it.

More importantly, has anyone got any dyno graphs of one?

What about cost comparisons?
Rotated turbo, uppipe, downpipe, inlet, altered intercooler piping, labour?
Front entry turbo, inlet, manifold spacers, labour?

For your 400 bhp target you' wont see much benefit from a Rotated setup

RCMS Turbo about £1500 inc vat which will go nicely with your setup.
You'll need a bigger inlet. A 76mm Samco number will do the trick.
Do you have the uprated fuel pump and a decent fuel pressure regulator?

I'm presuming you have a full decat system too.

Judging by your spec I would say all you need is the turbo, a few ancilleries and a remap.

All in I reckon you're looking at around £2K for around 400-450 bhp.

Then you'll need to think about a decent clutch

Hi,

I think what Nathan is trying to say is.... He want's a bigger turbo. Is it worth fiddling about raising inlet manifold (required for the front entry turbo's) and going bolt on? Or just buy a bigger rotated unit and leave manifold where it is?

You dont need a rotated set up and the hassle that can be involved with this, or the hassle of a front entry, piping and raising inlet manifolds, etc

You can go for a Garret GT30/P18 exhaust housing I would have thought - give you a good 400+ on all Rolling Roads at 1.7/1.8 bar

Nice easy bolt on Turbo, only pain is that you may need to do a bit of angle grinding and you will have to take off the Inlet manifold to fit a 76mm Inlet pipe

Cheers George. Thats what I meant but I just couldnt seem to word it when typing.

Fangoria. Are you saying I can run a 76mm 90degree bend on the front of the turbo (top entry) or remove the manifold to fit a 76mm front entry pipe?
If im removing the manifold, moving the p/s tank etc to fit the larger inlet pipe, would it not be easier to fit a rotated turbo?

Rotated turbo to much money considering you can get bolt on 500bhp turbos.

Scoobymania another good place for garrett 500bhp std position turbos
