boost levels????

boost levels through gears???
Took car out today around some local quite lanes 
as i have not drove her for a while and she did me proud . As driving noticed boost slightly higher due to air temp (winters here) this made me pay more atention to my boost gauge than normal, noticed boost ranging with gears lets explain:
1st gear 10psi
2nd gear 13psi
3rd gear 15psi
4th + 5th 17psi
Have i just not noticed this before, do they do this??
or am i just stupid
