No and yes.
You'll have to dump the EGT sensor on a newage WRX though.
OEM uppipes can have rattly heat shields affecting the knock sensor and split in two at the bellow joint.
May be best getting the newest up-pipe you cna find such as a newage STi version, cut the heat shields off and wrap it.

The new age STI also has a cat in the up pipe. an aftermarket cat-less pipe would cost £160 (supersprint). A friend has just fitted one ot his wrx and the result is that it drives like my newer STI ppp. Another friend couldn't catch him in his V9 STI (standard) the other day so I now it's no just me

A newage sti 02/03 does NOT have a cat in the up-pipe,The early newage wrx's did athough the later ones may not,I dont know. The later sti's might even have a up-pipe cat but definatly the 02/03 doesnt.

I thought this was part of the ppp, removing the up pipe in the sti.

On the wrx i believe it is, but definatly the 02 sti without ppp does not have an up-pipe cat.I expected to find one when i replaced my headers and found no cat in the up-pipe. I then checked with a few specialist to be told the sti doesnt have one.

ALL new age STI's have NOT cat in the up pipe!
MY01>05 2lt WRX's have cat in the up pipe thus the EGT sensor fitted there.
Last MY06 2.5lt WRX does NOT have cat in the up pipe as it uses a "secondary air pump" system that flows air in the exhaust valves which helps reducing emissions in exhausts gases.

As Jim.
It's the newage WRX ONLY that has a cat in the uppipe.
The ONLY cat removed in newage PPP (WRX AND STI) is in the short section centre pipe directly after the downpipe.
