Newbee bugeye owner mods
Been converted from a Rover 200vi to an 01 Bugeye WRX. Not too difficult a decision really! What should I mod first in regards to performance; I have already done a few lighting mods!

Not sure I'm a qualified expert LOL.. I did Prodrive centre decat and backbox, green air filter, then remap and now have 265 BHP & 276 ft/lb torque and a much, much more pleasurable drive!

i think that is it not cheap but well worth the transformation. When i got it at first i took all the cats of and put a full stainless system on uprated the fuel pump and got it remaped it made a huge improvement from standard so i would say start with that then see how it goes cheers MOMO
Above is good advice.
Start by fitting a performance back box, de-cat centre pipe and non-resonating centre pipe. This will 'liberate' approximately 15bhp at the top-end and release the burble (you can fit straight through down and up-pipes for another 15 or so bhp, but if you fully decat the car it needs to be remapped straight away and won't pass an MOT as it is).
Fit an uprated panel filter - one from Green is a good choice. Gives a couple of bhp at the top-end and ever so slightly more induction noise.
Finally to wrap up the initial first stage of mods, get it EcuTek3 remapped with an uprated fuel pump fitted. It's the remap that will dramatically improve the cars power delivery, maximise the gains from the exhaust and filter changes, and push you upto 260-270bhp.

I started with a hks ssqv blow off valve for the sound effects!
tried an induction kit but later discoered it was worse so stuck a green filter in my box and stuck that back on
full turbo back 3inch decat exhaust
then a hks fcon ecu with a hks evc 5 boost control 1.4 bar 392hp
then stuck some carbon fins on the back for a bit more road presence

Funny no one has mentioned that as a first, you know where to start which is a good thing... You want a walboro 255lph fuel pump, part number 342 If i remember rightly.
Green panel filter is also a good reccomendation, centre and backbox options can be quite cheap if you browse the for sale sections to grab a bargain.
Decat downpipe would be my next reccomendation.
Decat up pipe can be costly unless you are handy with tools, the actual pipe isnt expensive but the Check engine light will appear and fitting will set you back a couple of hours.

Before you fit the ITG Panel Filter, do a search on here.
It has been suggested on previous threads that the Oil in the ITG Filter contaminates the MAF Sensor, leading to a possible 'terminal' engine failure.
Please Search before fitting.

. the car is an import sti bugeye on an 03 plate so it's a late model bug, maybe someone can shed some light or tell me where to find markings on the turbo, althought i have welded more heat shields on!
possible although that would mean from the fly to wheel you only lose 11% which is a bit low for a 4wd system, as it dyno'd 302 at the wheels! either way who cares i enjoy driving it and it moves like no tomorrow!!
the first time i got my 2002 wrx remaped with cats removed ,sti intercooler and wallbro fuel pump i also had a power tek filter on it when i took the car to andy f he told me he could have given it a bit more power with out the filter apparently the car did noy like it plus he also said that the standard stuff was good for over 300 bhp.So when i put all the other stuff on i asked him wot would be a good filter to put on so i fitted the aps cold air induction kit it has a red alloy pipe and the filter sits in the inner wing well away from the sencor it is a really good pice of kit so if you are going to go for bigger power fit the good stuff first. cheers MOMO
