Default Second hand clocks.

Ive just bought a set of second hand clocks for my uk 97 impreza and was told that when you connect them up the mileage automaticly changes itself. Is this true?

I don't see how they would set themselves as the MY97 is mechanical not the digital readout of the later cars!!

What is wrong with the old clocks?
I might be interested in them if you don't want them

The needle on the speedo sticks so i thought it would be easiest to buy a full cluster.

So if the mileage doesnt change by itself, is there any other way of altering it?
