What Air Filter / Exhaust ??
Hi folks,
Hopefully gonna be picking my WRX ('95) up this week. Any ideas on the best air filter (or replacement panel) and exhaust combo for the car?? I'm after a subtle note for the exhaust, nothing loud and paaarpy. I've heard the Scoobysport exhaust is good for slight power gains and a nice subtle distinctive sound. I've seen some scoobys and thought "thats a nice one", then its pulled away going "bbbbpaaaaaarrrrrrrppppppp" and I just cringe. I like the standard exhaust, as its un-obtrusive but still gives a nice burble on idle. Anyone actually opted to keep the standard stuff on ??
Cheers guys,
Clint.

All I can tell you is the HKS back box on mine is very loud. I'm going to get a green cotton replacment panel filter. Don't like induction kits, whats the point of sucking in hot air from in the engine bay, also heard to many tales of them ruining maf sensors

I've got a Hayward and Scott system on mine and think it's superb. Good compromise of performance and noise, not overboard. They used to manufacture the original scoobysport system before Janspeed took over, so it is essentially a scoobysport exhaust

Scoobyworld Ninja is the business.
Deep burble on tickover with a howl at full chat.
Not intrusive in the cab area either on the motorway
Iv'e got that in conjunction with a JR panel filter.

Cheers Rob, I'll be sure to check them out. Would be really good to hear some sound files of the different exhausts, but they seem hard to come by.

hello clint
ive got a hks supersuction air filter and it sounds awesome, ive never heard anything like it,took it to the garage and they said nice dumpvalve,my scoob never had a decent dump????it gives off the proper induction roar and with my exhaust which i believe to be a hks super dragger system makes my impreza sound really nice.
hope this helps.i have heard alot of good things about the other exhausts mentioned above so it really will be done to personal choice, good luck

Clint.
They fitted mine for free (backbox and centre). Was able to drop in as my parents live near to their workshop.

Noisey!!!!
My 94 WRX came with a 5Zigen from japan - which is a bit noisy.
I now want to get a decent induction roar, so would appreciate any advice on induction kits, especially power rises and noises - K&N 57i is top of my list at the moment.

I have a Scoobysport centre decat and backbox but originally just the backbox.
Backbox was very quite - slight burble when you pull off but after 4kRPMS you couldnt hear it all, great if you do lots of motorway journeys and looks better than the standard pea shooters!!
Got rid of the cat and it sounds brilliant now and revs a lot easier - great roar on WOT and a much deeper louder burble on tick over which is what i wanted. still good on motorways though - never really hear it with the windows up! Lots of little pops on over run as well
