Default Screamer pipe??

What is a screamer pipe, been reading alot of articles, not scooby ones mind you, where it says they have a 'screamer' pipe, and wondered if anyone could enlighten me on what this is??

It is where the car has a complete separate pipe for the waste gate, instead of connecting to the main exhaust. It allows more accurate wastegate control i think.

Ahh ook, thought it was some kind of exhaust part, just wondered what it was!

Screamer pipes are used to dump the exhaust gasses from external wastegates. The reason the dump to atmosphere, instead of routing back into the system, is because one set of exhaust pulses trying to enter the exhaust tract at a seperate velocity to the main gasses, can cause a back-up restriction. For out-right power, and smooth power delivery, atmosphere is best.
