I have a forge vta dump valve fited and just wondered, is the dump valve meant to stay open at idle and close when driving/on boost?

Assuming that it works the same way as a BOV it should be closed until you lift off the throtle. It then releases the inlet pressure in the manifold to stop the turbo stalling. I hope this helps. Mark.
