Default Preventative Rebuild

I'm going to pull the engine out of my 99 5-door Turbo for a preventative rebuild (slight rumbling when cold)...aside from mains, big ends, clutch - what would you recommend I do when it's out?

Main & big end bearings, piston rings, hone bores, examine pistons / new pistons, ( if going for major mods, better steel rods and pistons, crank mods, oil squirters, modded oil pump ), gasket set, clean up heads and exhaust manifolds ( port 'em ! ), front and rear crank oil seals, cam cover oil seals and gaskets, cam belt,

Now price that up against a new 2.5l bottom end .... with gaskets , and labour extra with yourexisting bits!

not needed straight away
run the 2.5 shortblock on the standerd stuff to help spread the cost and upgrade later on when funds clear

as long as you can get insurance (must check)

recon 2.0 blocks cost more then new 2.5 ones
