Default Gearbox oil level..?

Checked the gearbox dip-stick yesterday and the oil is on the low mark, how do I top up (through dip stick..?) and is it OK to top up given that I don't know what oil is already in and owners manual states that different oil brands are not to be mixed..!

One other point, the oil is clear, is this normal for g/box oil..?

Hi Jase
You top up through dipstick tube,Use a tube or hose..you may get one with the oil..As for what oil i would have thought most synthetics would be ok ( ive done it with no probs ) and yes clear is best...
I would put about 0.5 litre more in there also
