Default help with fitting cams

while refitting the cams to my 95 sti
i noticed they have gone alot stiffer and the valves have opened a bit
i made sure i tightened them in the correct order

is it something to do with when the engine starts the oil will be pumped in to them and they sort them selfs out

as u can guess i want to be 100% sure on this one dont want any bent valves

If the valves are open, the cams will be "on lobe" to some degree, and under spring tension.

I assume you you have either used engine oil, or assembley lube on the cams, and caps before re-installing, so if you rotate the cam "slowly", it should come of lobe, and will be free to rotate a little, backwards, and forwards.

If it is still very tight, then I would suggest undoing all the caps, and make sure they are all seated correctly.

Well if the valves were open, they were on lobe, but maybe just, and the cam has eased itself back off.

If the valves were open, and "not" on lobe, you have far bigger problems, because that would imply the springs aren't under tension.
