Question Urgent Injector question

Hi guys,

I've just gone to fit a set of phase II injectors to my MY97 using a set of Carl's injector adaptors...

...the red arrow above points to where a small o-ring should be according to Carl's instructions. I'm not sure that it is wise to fit them without the lower o-ring as it doesn't seem to make a seal and looks like fuel could get straight through around the injector.

Does anyone know if it would be ok without the o-ring? If so - happy days!!!

If not, do you know what size those o-rings are? I had some lying around but they were too small.

Please help - car is getting mapped at 1500hrs tomorrow!!!

Cheers,
Jamie

You are correct in thinking without the lower o'ring they will leak (well p1ss through) - is there an o'ring inside the adapter?
Can't remember what size the lower o'rings are

Hi Delboy,

The adapter is chamfered (sp?) to take an o-ring, but there is not one in there. They normally come on the injectors but the guy I got these off had to use them on his 550s, and we assumed I could take the ones off my 380s, but the 380s don't have any on - doh!

I've been advised that I should be able to get these from a dealer so will try that first thing tomorrow, unless someone can provide the size then I can go somewhere nearer.

Yep, the old injextors that I took out had the big o-ring at the top so I can re-use that one fine, just need the lower ones by lunchtime today!!

I replied in PM that I have some but now looking at the picture this is the exact problem I looked at on a friends car on Wednesday and unfortunatly the Orings I have didn't fit either..

I'll bring them with me to check.. if all else fails we can map it this afternoon on the 380s and when I am next down your way (later this month) we can remap on new injectors and increase the boost etc..

Hi Jamie,

Try a search on Yell.com for fuel injection in pompey - someone may have what you need on the shelf.

Cheers

hold on I take that back slightly.. you have 550s and that is what these O rings were for, from Pavlo when I bought adaptors from him.. so they should be correct ones unless the adaptors are different to Pauls.. the other car was trying to fit 740's so perhaps that is why the Orings I have didn't fit..

we will see this afternoon Jamie..

You were right first time Simon - these are 440s not 550s. I've just bought a mahoosive box of o-rings from a bearing supplier and none of them fit! They do need to be quite fat so maybe the ones you have will be ok?

TBH though, the one I removed was a real pain to get out so they would probably take ages to swap over, so it would probably be best to map it with the 380s and then just get some o-rings from Pavlo and fit the 440s before you come down next (22nd?).
