Question cat down pipe

Hi all,
As my thread in drivetrain. My car failed it's mot on emissions it's a 93 never had a problem in 2 years of owning it but apparently they are clamping down more?.I have managed to get my hands on a down pipe cat of a 92 legacy just to get it through,my only worry is altering it to fit mine.does anyone have any ideas,is there anything I can put in the fuel to get it through without a cat.Cheers

Is yours an import or UK car? I was under the impression that import WRX's and STi's on MY93-96 plates would pass an MOT without having to undertake an emisions test due to the data not being in the testers books. If they are starting to clamp down on this, then I better dig out my old cat ready for it's next MOT!!

I think the numbers for 'non cat equiped' or imports have been reduced.

It's a way of ensuring that older cars get removed from the roads on the quiet, bit by bit, one or two at a time, so no-one notices.

PS: Grrrrrr!
