Water Injection
I have been looking into this a little for my sprint / hillclimb Type RA. Would like to hear any comments opinions about this. Is it compulsory to have a mapped system or can a basic system be as effective.

The ERL nAquamist systems are excellent, and can be used purely for safety, or to increase overall power.
The basic 1S system works very well, and is reasonably priced, and relatively easy to fit.
The 2D system takes a signal from an injector, and will inject water "proportionally" to the fuel. This will save on the water usage, and give more power.
Methanol can also be added to the water supply, to give a little more

So long as you keep to a circa 8-10% water, to fuel ratio, it will only cost about 6-10bhp, without any mapping. WI will make the afr a little richer.
However, if you remap the ignition, and lean out the fuel a little, you will get an increase in power. Just how much, will depend on the rest of the set up, and how it's mapped.
Cars with top mount IC's will gain more than cars with FMIC's, because they are less efficient, and will be hotter to start with.

Thanks for the comments, with a re mapp the performance should increase, would you think torque would be increased rather than Bhp. Therefore a 2D system would be prefered rather than a simple system which is activated by boost pressure.

I would expect both torque, and BHP to increase, correctly set up, and re-mapped for gains.
The 2d system is very good, and will give more through the mid' range, because it won't be spraying proportionately more water, lower down, than the 1S system.
Personal choice would be the 2D, but I've had very good results from the 1S, and it's cheaper, and easier to fit.
It comes down to budjet, and how far you want to go.
